Adolescent health (RKSK)

groupsWho are adolescents

Boys and girls aged 10 to 19 years are adolescents. Their body and mind change fast. They need correct information on nutrition, body changes, mental health, and staying away from tobacco, alcohol and drugs.

Talk to adolescents with respect and in private. Do not scold or shame them.

Under RKSK (Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram), adolescents can get free counselling and treatment at Adolescent Friendly Health Clinics (AFHC) at PHC, CHC and district hospitals. Everything they share is kept confidential.

volunteer_activismPeer educators

In each village, peer educators (Saathiya) — 2 boys and 2 girls — are chosen to share health messages with other adolescents. Help them organise the Adolescent Health and Wellness Day in your village.

Remember

Adolescents often listen to friends more than to adults.
