Toilets and hygiene
homeUse a toilet always
Every family member should use a toilet, every time. Open defecation spreads diarrhoea, worms and typhoid. Children's stool should also be put in the toilet. Keep the toilet clean and use water after use.
Help families apply for toilet support under Swachh Bharat Mission.
clean_handsHandwashing steps
Wet hands, apply soap, rub palms, back of hands, between fingers, backs of fingers, thumbs and fingertips, then wrists. Rinse and dry with a clean cloth. It should take about 40 seconds.
Wash hands before eating, before cooking, before feeding a child, and after toilet.
waterClean surroundings
Do not let water collect near the house — it breeds mosquitoes. Put garbage in a pit or dustbin, keep wet and dry waste separate, and keep animals' shelters away from the kitchen.
Plan a village cleaning day with the VHSNC.
