Mosquito control in the village
deleteStop breeding
Empty, scrub and dry coolers, tanks and pots once a week ('Dry Day'). Cover all water containers. Throw away old tyres, coconut shells and broken pots, or keep them upside down.
Do a house-to-house check with families - show them larvae.
bedSleep under nets
Everyone, especially pregnant women and children, should sleep under long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLIN) every night. Do not wash the net often. Tuck it under the mattress.
Use full sleeves, and repellents where available.
homeSpray and fish
Encourage families to allow indoor residual spraying (IRS) and not to plaster or paint walls after spray. Larva-eating fish (Gambusia, guppy) can be put in ponds, wells and tanks.
Inform the ANM about new breeding sites.
